Bitcoin Jesus — Roger Ver
When the name Ver appears in industry news, you can immediately expect extraordinary news. Because it must be admitted that Roger Ver is not only a serious player in the world of cryptocurrencies, but also an extremely controversial person. He describes himself as a libertarian, anarcho-capitalist, volunteer, advocate of peace and individualism, one of the first investors in Bitcoin. He is also investing in startups linked to Bitcoin. He founded the Bitcoin Foundation with the goal of disseminating knowledge and bringing Bitcoin into competition with fiat currencies. And in 2018, he was ranked 36th in the ranking of young rich people under 40.
Ver is an American by origin, he was born in California — he grew up in Silicon Valley. However, he relinquished his citizenship to become a citizen of St. Kitts and Nevis. He decided to make this move to avoid high taxation. Problems arose when Roger Ver wanted to return to the States for the conference. So he applied for a visa at the US embassy in Barbados, unfortunately he was refused it, motivating the decision not to leave the country after the conference. Finally, the visa was approved by another embassy. For the same reason, he was also refused a visa to Australia.
His first business was selling fireplaces on eBay. In California, no such sale is allowed without a license, Ver pleaded guilty to the crime and spent 10 months in prison as a sentence. He came up with the idea to describe this experience and he did it on his YouTube channel. The movie is titled “My Story of being Tortured in Prison”.
In the years 1999–2012 he was the president of MemoryDealers.com. In 2011, he heard about cryptocurrencies and decided to invest in them. His decision allowed the company to develop and hire new specialists. Since then, he has managed to invest well over a million dollars in new companies in the cryptocurrency industry.
To date, he is the executive chairman of Bitcoin.com. And this year, he took ownership of CoinFLEX — a centralized cryptocurrency exchange. Due to liquidity problems, the site has problems in operation and on June 23 this year, withdrawals were suspended. It turns out that Ver has not posted the collateral that is necessary for the operation of the exchange.
Sometimes Ver is not true. As in the situation where he describes that he repeatedly paid for cryptocurrency sending transactions in the amount of $ 1,009. Meanwhile, the highest fee for such transactions is $ 55.
Admittedly, we look forward to hearing more about Rogere Ver.
