Cynthia Lummis — a senator who is not afraid of cryptocurrencies

--

Today we will introduce an extraordinary character, although there are many such people in the cryptocurrency industry, Cynthia Lummis does not resemble a cryptocurrency enthusiast. She is an American lawyer and politician. From 2009 until 2017, she represented the state of Wyoming in Congress. She was also a long-term treasurer in this state. In the years 1993–1995 she was a member of the Senate of Wyoming. Just before her retirement, she served as a junior United States Senator from Wyoming from 2021.

Cynthia is a descendant of German immigrants who settled in the United States in 1868. She was born on a cattle farm. Her father and brother were politicians, both leading the Republican Party. It is no wonder then that she tied her future with politics.

She received her master’s degree in animal science from the University of Wyoming. Another major she graduated from was biology. She completed her education in 1985, earning a doctorate in law.

At the age of 24, she was elected to the House of Representatives as the youngest woman to serve in the state legislature. She also holds the palm of precedence in the highest spending on the election campaign, which brought her the senator’s seat in 1992.

In 2019, Cynthia applied for a seat in the United States Senate. She won the support of her Republican voters. It was a crushing victory. Not only did she become the first woman to represent Wyoming, but she also won more votes than all her opponents combined.

As a senator, she became known as a reasonable and conservative politician. She fought to cut spending and reduce the federal deficit. Her priority was family, community and values. Her private life also required her to take on challenges. In the 1970s, she met her husband Alvin Wiederspahn during her election campaign. He ran his campaign. They both got into the House of Representatives. Their relationship was not destroyed even by their differing views. Her husband was running as a Democrat at the time. They were one of the few couples to work together in the House of Representatives. The marriage ended with the death of her partner in 2014

In 2013, she purchased her first Bitcoins after prior encouragement from her son-in-law. He currently owns $230,000 worth of BTC. Lummis is famous for its positive approach to cryptocurrencies and its attitude encourages other senators, but not only. She also addressed the cryptocurrency mining community with an invitation to Wyoming. Thanks to her statements, she gained the favor of the crypto community. Moreover, it has helped introduce solutions for cryptocurrencies in the field of legislation, regulation and innovation.

Lummis believes that cryptocurrencies are easier to identify than cash in some cases. He also supports the idea that cryptocurrencies should be in more investor portfolios. According to Lummis, cryptocurrencies are a very good carrier and store of value.

Last year Cynthia Lummis and Kirsten Gillibrandan worked on a project on financial innovation. The project aimed to create a regulatory framework for the cryptocurrency market. The bill is said to be a milestone in virtual asset policy as it also addresses tax, pension insurance and cybersecurity issues. Lummis believes that if it entered into force, there would be no scandals related to cryptocurrency exchanges or unprofitable projects.

Cynthia Lummis believes that Bitcoin is the answer to saving and wasteful policies of the rulers.
