Global Population Growth — Global Cryptocurrency Adoption
On November 15, the world’s population surpassed 8 billion. Such data is provided by the Worldometer based on the United Nations data from 2022. In 1974, the population was 4 billion, i.e. it doubled in 48 years. However, the growth rate is projected to slow down. How will this affect the adoption of cryptocurrencies?
The world population continues to grow, but its gradual slowdown is observed. It is estimated that it will reach 9 billion only in 15 years and 10 billion in 2080. In terms of populating the Earth, two countries are leading the way: China and India. Almost 36% of the world’s population lives in them.
An increase in the number of fellow citizens can enhance the development of humanity. New people will probably discover new resources, new technologies, and perhaps they will start using the already known ones in a better way. They will also have the opportunity to get to know and inhabit areas whose availability is unattainable for us today. Of course, there are still many demographic problems to solve. But our quest for progress and prosperity is endless. The growing number of inhabitants of the planet can only be a support in this process.
One aspect of progress is undoubtedly the discovery of blockchain and cryptocurrencies. At the moment, there are no exact calculations as to what percentage of the population owns virtual assets. However, research by GWI suggests that 10.2% of global internet users between the ages of 16 and 64 own cryptocurrencies. Of course, the reasons for having them are different, but mainly due to the desire to invest your assets, high inflation in the countries where users come from or lack of access to traditional banking.
According to Blockchain TripleA estimates, 4.2% of the population globally owns cryptocurrencies, i.e. there are about 320 million of them around the world. The United States is in first place with 46 million cryptocurrency holders. India, Pakistan and Nigeria followed. There are no users from China in the list. It is not without reason that China blocks cryptocurrencies very strongly. However, this does not prevent them from testing their ejuan. It can therefore be assumed that Chinese citizens know the idea of cryptocurrencies very well and are open to them.
Yet global adoption continues.
It remains for us to believe that together as fellow citizens we will be able to eliminate the existing problems and dreams of progress will take us even further.
