Vitalik Buterin — how Ethereum was born
The hero of today’s article is a brilliant Canadian of Russian origin. He is the creator of Ethereum — a platform built on blockchain technology and supporting smart contracts. Its cryptocurrency is Ether (it allows you to carry out transactions on the platform). The idea of the platform is brilliant because of its usefulness and possibilities. It enables the creation of new cryptocurrencies and new software on a single, shared blockchain.
Interestingly, Buterin came up with the idea of decentralizing money while playing his favorite game World of Warcraft: “I happily played World of Warcraft during 2007–2010, but one day Blizzard removed the damage component from my beloved warlock’s Siphon Life spell. I cried myself to sleep, and on that day I realized what horrors centralized services can bring. I soon decided to quit.”
His second project is Bitcoin Weekly magazine. Since 2011, he has been its co-founder and the main writer. His adventure with this magazine began with creating cryptocurrency content for publication on the website. The owner of Bitcoin Weekly was then offering a fee of 5 BTC for each article he wrote. It should be noted that back then Bitcoin cost $ 3.5. Buterin wrote articles until the end of the site. Since 2012, Bitcoin Weekly has appeared in print and immediately gained recognition as a reliable source of information about cryptocurrencies.
In 2016, Vitalik was also a member of the editorial board of the Ledger magazine, which deals with the subject of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.
Buterin showed an early interest in mathematics and computer science. Early teachers noticed his exceptional abilities. He was much more intelligent than his colleagues. So he was transferred to a class of gifted students. Nevertheless, he decided not to continue his education, as he dropped out of his studies. So why can he be called a doctor? For a simple reason. As an outstanding unit, he was awarded the honorary doctorate Honoris Causa of the University of Basel at the Faculty of Business and Economics.
In 2017, the world got word that Vitalik Buterin had died in a car accident. He quickly denied this rumor by posting a correction on Twitter. Nevertheless, the cryptocurrency market reacted very quickly as the price of Ether fell from 300 to 260 dollars that day. Thus, the market showed how important the creator’s support for cryptocurrency is.
A brilliant programmer, the face of Ether, a genius … Today his opinions can support or destroy any project. Despite his young age, he was already on Forbes’ list of the richest people. We look forward to the continued success of this genius visionary.
